Derek Boldt, Head Coach
Coach Boldt’s philosophy as a Head Football Coach has been, and will always be, player first. The program is designed and built on the idea that they will create strong young people that have been taught leadership skills, tenacity, mental toughness, and accountability. Football is a magical sport and there isn’t another out there that compares to it. There are many life skills that are learned through playing football and the intention of the program is to provide students these skills through hard work and pushing athletes to their limits. As the program continues to grow, expect the young people of the community to grow along with it. High expectations result in high quality people. Augusta Football will be a pillar of the community.
In the summer of 2024, Coach Boldt led a district wide initiative to continue to push in developing our young people into strong leaders. This was through a program called Lead ‘Em Up. Since then, Coach Boldt went through a rigorous certification process and is now a certified Lead ‘Em Up Coach, only 1 of 12 people in the nation to have this title. Leadership and discipline continue to be the driving force in Coach Boldt’s role as a father, husband, football coach, teacher, community member, and district employee.
Coach Boldt has been coaching football in Augusta for seven years. He coached the middle school team in the 2017 season, and took over the head coaching position at the varsity level in 2018. This will be Coach Boldt’s ninth season coaching football at Augusta with the start of the 2025 season, his eighth at the helm of the Varsity squad. Before coaching with the school, Coach Boldt helped coach a flag football team for Augusta in the falls of 2015 and 2016. Coach Boldt is entering his ninth year in 2025 as a Middle School Teacher with the district.
Before coming to Augusta, Coach Boldt grew up in Baldwin, Wisconsin. At Baldwin-Woodville High School he played football, basketball, and ran track. While playing football his senior year, his team was able to make it to the level 4 playoffs before being knocked out of the tournament by Wautoma. After graduating High School in 2009, Coach Boldt attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he obtained a teaching degree and graduated in 2014. He now lives in Augusta with his wife and two kids. In his time away from football, Coach Boldt spends much of his time hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.
In Coach Boldt’s career in Augusta he has made the playoffs 3 times, the first in the 19-20 season. This was the first time Augusta had reached the playoffs in nearly 20 years. In the 21-22 season, Coach Boldt led the team to a Dairyland conference championship, the first since 1990, and an undefeated regular season. He was the Dairyland Conference Coach of the Year as well as recognized as a Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week in the 21-22 season.
