Band

Band is a year-long class that meets during the school day. We provide a unique experience that you will likely never get another chance to experience after leaving school. Learning to play an instrument is an enriching experience that builds character, increases intellectual abilities, and is an all-around, fun time. The band is often asked to perform at celebrations like Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, Bean and Bacon Days, pep band or warm-ups for games, and student pep rallies, as well as hosting four concerts of its own and performing for the elementary school and the Augusta Health and Rehab clinic. The band also attends field trips to performances and clinics each year.

Jazz Band is a subsidiary of the band program specializing in popular music beginning in the 1920s with New Orleans Jazz all the way to today’s off-shoots of funk and hip-hop. We often perform at the band concerts as well as our own special events some years. The jazz band rehearses before school or at night to avoid sports practices.
