Principal's Welcome

Uploaded Image

Hello Students, Families, and Augusta Community,

As an educator and leader, I firmly believe in the power of fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments where all students feel supported, valued, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. My philosophy is centered on a commitment to academic excellence, equity, and the development of strong relationships among students, staff, and families. Drawing from my 17 years of classroom experience, two years as Dean of Students and now as Principal, I have witnessed the profound impact that positive, collaborative, and communicative educational environments have on student growth and achievement.

I believe that every student, regardless of background, deserves a fair opportunity to succeed academically and personally. I strive to support diverse groups of students, helping to guide behavior and discipline while ensuring that each student has the support and guidance needed to thrive. Communication is essential in this work; I have learned that clear, open, and timely communication between students, staff, and families is crucial to creating a space where students feel understood and encouraged.

My role as a National Board Certified Teacher has reinforced my belief that continuous reflection and adaptation are essential for effective teaching. I approach my work with a mindset focused on student growth and achievement, regularly adjusting my strategies to meet the evolving needs of students. Whether working with classroom teachers or mentoring early-career educators, I emphasize the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in creating an environment that fosters both personal and academic success. By continuously seeking out resources and creating opportunities for professional development, I aim to empower my colleagues to grow in their practices and contribute to the collective success of our school community.

Having been immersed in education for 20 years, I come from a long line of educators as a fourth-generation educator. My career began in Eau Claire at Sherman Elementary, where I taught fourth and fifth grades. Later, I moved to DeLong Middle School, where I taught sixth-grade science, social studies, and reading, and served as Dean of Students for two years. After returning to the classroom for a year, I transitioned to my role as Assistant Principal here in Augusta.

Ultimately, I view my role as a leader as one that not only ensures a safe and supportive environment but also creates opportunities for students and staff to grow, collaborate, and succeed. I am passionate about fostering a culture where both students and educators are challenged to reach their full potential, and where the focus remains on nurturing the skills and abilities that will empower them to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Respectfully,

Nicholas Sirek, NBCT

Middle & High School Principal
