The first two years of a child’s life are critical for brain and language development. Babies are born with an amazing ability and desire to learn. They investigate sights, sounds, and the feel of the world all around them through all of their senses. Long before they begin to walk or talk, they need safe places where they can explore.
Our infant and toddler classrooms will have a predictable sequence of events each day including breakfast, free play, outside time, lunch, nap and snack. However, the needs and individual schedules of each child will always take priority in the infant and one-year old classrooms. Children will be fed when hungry, given naps when needed, and given free play when awake and active. We will provide safe, open spaces for children who are creeping and crawling. Infants and toddlers will be encouraged to play with a wide variety of safe toys and objects that will encourage their language, small motor, and large motor development. You will hear reading, songs, and many conversations taking place in these younger age groups. Teachers will use ProCare to share pertinent information and documentation with parents.
