Work Environment:
- Technological Education Lab
The Shop is the big Tech Ed. Area on the south side of the school. Its is basically split up in 6 different sections:
- Woodworking
- Metal manufacturing
- Automotive maintenance
- Auto CAD/ Drafting
- Plastics
- Small engines
In every single area, you can find toolboxes with the equipment you need to work on cars, metals, woods... Also, you can find workbenches and work materials in every section. Also, the shop has a car lift, several welding machines, welding torches, an air compressor that provides compressed air for a Nail gun, impact wrenches, and other tools in the whole shop. The shop also has a big fan system so we can start cars and let them run to make performance checks in the shop without any safety concerns.
The Auto CAD and Drafting area is also equipped with computers and the necessary software.
The shop also has plenty of emergency exits and fire extinguishers.
For safety reasons, it is required to wear safety glasses for students and teachers entering the shop. Also at the beginning of a new class, we talk at length about safety procedures.
Courses:
Electronics:
This Class is about basic electronics. We learn about Ohm’s Law, about how to set up different kinds of circuits, like parallel and series circuits.
Power & Energy:
In power and Energy we learn about Energy systems, what they consist of. We learn about the different kinds of energy, like Potential and Kinetic Energy. Also we spend a lot of time in the Shop in this class, for example: we built a trebuchet, and model rocket and we also built a vehicle that was powered by a small airplane engine.
Automotive maintenance:
If you interested in cars, this is the right class for you. We learned so much about cars, car engines, brakes, fuel systems, suspensions etc.
