Jason has a wife (Staci), four children (Katharine, Madeline, Olivia, and Ian), two grandchildren (Haven and Kalem), two dogs (Flynn and Rousey), and a cat (Lily). In his spare time he is an avid motorcyclist (motocross, offroad, and street bikes) and thoroughly enjoy billiards.
Jason Kestner is the former principal of Augusta Middle/High School (2012-2015) and has recently returned to Augusta HS as an English Teacher. This will be Jason’s first year as the Head Girl’s Track coach but his 10th year overall as a varsity track coach. Jason was the Head Assistant Varsity Track Coach at Aquinas HS (1991-1994), the Head Girls Track Coach at Onalaska HS (1995-1999), and the Head Boys and Girls Track Coach at New Lisbon HS (2009). He has coached state record holders, state champions, and numerous state place winners.
Jason was raised in Austin, MN and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School (Blooming Prairie, MN) in 1988. Jason was a two year varsity letter winner in football, four year varsity letter winner in wrestling and track. Jason was a conference champion wrestler and conference, district, and regional champion track athlete. Jason went on to compete in cross country, wrestling, and track at Rochester Community College. Jason was the NJCAA Conference runner up in Pole Vault in 1990. Jason gave up competing and began coaching while finishing his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Education at Viterbo University and his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at Winona State University.
Jason is excited to bring his knowledge and passion for track and field to the athletes of Augusta. He views track as one of the best sports for individuals to achieve personal success while working in conjunction with others as a team. Go Beavers!
