| Philosophy The Augusta School District, through its elected school board, has the responsibility of providing the best possible education to all of the children in the district while attempting to meet the needs and abilities of each student.
We believe that emphasis should be placed primarily on the basic skills, as future learning at any level is based upon those skills; emphasis should also be on one’s responsibility to society, respect for others, and self-respect.We believe that the Augusta Schools, within our means and resources, will make every effort to help each student maximize his/her potential. We believe it is the privilege and duty of schools in the United States to pass on our American heritage, ideals and traditions. We believe that equal educational opportunity is the right of all children without regard to sex, sexual preference, race, creed, ancestry, national origin, physical, emotional or mental handicap or socioeconomic status. To this end we pledge to educate each child in a manner which helps them prepare for, relate to, and understand the duties and privileges of being a responsible, productive individual in the world community. We request the advice and support of the citizens of the Augusta community and that of the professional staff, as we endeavor to develop the attitudes and abilities of the generation of tomorrow.
